Candied green walnuts are sweet, nutty and lightly spiced. This makes them an ideal addition to a cheese platter. Lara-walnuts are grown in Veneto, north-east of Italy. To preserve this, they get harvested when theyre young, or 'green'. Young walnuts can be quie bitter, with almost tannine-like taste. Candied in syrup the bitterness is balanced and the nuts get a softer structure. They pair well with roasted pork or duck.
