Also called ‘the white gold of the Algarve’. Marisol sea salt is traditionally derived from the east of the Algarve in Portugal. You still can find the traditional salt lakes in the Ria Formusa Nature reserve, along the Atlantic coast of Tavira. In this area the sea salt is harvested by hand according to an ancient tradition. The sea salt only needs sun, sea and wind. It has a nice coarse grain and briny taste, it is not suitable to grain with a salt mill because it is to wet!
