Popular and enduring, ‘ras el hanout’ literally translates as 'owner of the shop’. No ras el hanout is ever the same because everyone makes their own version. We make two incorporating some of the fantastic spices available at Vanilla Venture. One savoury and one sweet. This is the sweet edition, made with cumin, fennel, anise, star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, grains of paradise and dried rose petals. You can use our sweet ras el hanout in cakes and cookies, to give coffee or chocolate a spicy kick, or with sweet roasted vegetables such as pumpkin, carrot and other root vegetables.
